The design for a new sports facility at the English School Cairo, Egypt, combines modern design requirements with traditional building forms from the region, such as semi-transparent screens called mashrabiya. The yellow colour scheme is intended to have an inviting effect on spectators and students, as it is associated with concepts such as light, sun and life. The generous glass façades open up the sports facility to the school campus. The new building will create a lively, attractive centre point on the school campus.
