Ludger Paffrath, Berlin
This single-family home which had stood vacant from years was virtually demolished except for the original surrounding brick walls and reconceived for a Berlin family. A new, higher roof truss with two large dormers provides more light and space in the home and allows for an open floor plan. A newly organized central stairwell connects all levels and provides an unexpected generous character.
The floor plan, originally divided into small rooms on the ground floor, was completely reconceived, creating a generous residential space with an open kitchen. The once small, narrow house became bright, spacious, and open.
